RIIS Design is based on the Danish design tradition which is founded on the belief that good design has the power to improve people’s lives and create a positive impact on society. Our foundation is a sustainability-focused, empathetic, collaborative and global mindset.
Our design embraces all departments in RIIS Group and sets the standards for our concept design, product design, choice of material and furniture design.
RIIS Design was established to work alongside the production of crafted furniture back in 1994, and it has been an integrated part of the company ever since.
“Design is much more than form and function. It’s about creating spaces that are rooted in your DNA, values, culture and purpose.”
– Mette Rødtnes, Head of Design
We view the design of spaces with a purpose-centred and problem-solving perspective. To achieve this, we couple our quest for beauty with a quest to serve a relevant purpose, and to create added value for our clients.
We strive to develop relevant, unique and innovative designs from natural materials and with superior craftsmanship, to ensure that they will pass the test of time.
We design with a sustainability-focused mindset producing aesthetic sustainable designs, which will age without losing its value and appeal.
Our design tradition is founded on craft and not least on the love of the craft.
We analyse your brand, culture, identity, and strategic goals as well as your customers and competitors.
We prioritise data, generate ideas and select main themes to create the vision of your concept.
We apply space management, develop layout, interior/exterior design, furniture and product presentation.
We handle product development and rollout plan agreement before implementing your concept design.
As an important starting point for any concept design, we apply a deep understanding of your brand identity or your company values. This understanding is a prerequisite for designing concept designs that become the spatial and aesthetic interpretation of your brand or communicates your company values.
By applying carefully identified visual and aesthetic means that correspond with your brand identity or company culture, we strengthen brand perception among consumers and support positive company culture.
When we design physical environments, we design human behaviour. The spaces people occupy affect what they do and how they interact with each other.
Depending on how a space is designed, it will either promote or prevent certain types of behaviour, activity and interaction.
The aesthetic qualities of the surroundings affect how people feel, by impacting the senses as well as by communicating certain values through visual and aesthetic means.
